About Margi Mainquist

Margi Mainquist, M.S., is the President of Mainquist Consulting Inc. She is an expert in adult learning and development, human behavior and change. Margi has more than 25 years of experience working with thousands of people as a consultant, coach, and trainer for corporations, universities and non-profit organizations throughout the United States.

Margi is an innovative, inspirational leader. Her unique ability to connect and sustain relationships with people is embodied in a passion for making a difference in people’s lives. She combines creative, intuitive skills with pragmatic analytical tools and approaches for exceptional results. Currently, Margi provides consulting and coaching for national and international organizations. She is a highly respected executive coach and serves as a mentor coach for the Academy for Coaching Excellence. She was one of the first seminar leaders in the Coaching Intensive Training Program with the Hudson Institute of Santa Barbara and has taught leadership and management courses for the University of California, Santa Barbara Extension.

Mainquist Consulting Santa BarbaraPrior to starting her business, Margi held leadership roles in higher education. As Director of the Arts and Human Services at the University of California, Santa Barbara Extension she developed professional certificate programs and courses. She also served as Director of Extend, providing customized workforce training programs to businesses in Southern California. Margi held various positions at the University of Northern Colorado as Assistant Dean of Students, Assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs and Director of Evening/Summer Division of Continuing Education. At UNC, she was selected as a fellow in the prestigious national Institute for Educational Leadership. In addition, she served as Executive Director of Girl Scouts in Salem, Oregon. She has worked internationally in Italy, Canada and on Semester at Sea global studies program.

Margi is currently on the Board of Directors/Personnel Committee Chair for Hospice of Santa Barbara, and served as a founding team member for the Linked Foundation for women.

She was a founding member of the Edges Coaching Community. She has held leadership roles as Vice-President/Program Chair of the Board of Directors for Los Padres chapter of The American Society for Training and Development (ASTD), President and Vice President/Program Chair of the Board of Directors of the Colorado Wyoming Association of Women Administrators and Counselors and Board of Directors, South Coast Business Network.

Personally, Margi is an adventurer and loves nature, travel and is a life-long learner. In 1990, she sailed with her husband on a 33 foot sailboat to Mexico where she traveled and lived for six months. In addition, she was the Adult Coordinator on Semester at Sea, an academic voyage around the world to ten countries.

Margi holds an M.S. degree from Oregon State University in Administration and Business and a B.A. in English. She has certificates in coaching from the Hudson Institute of Santa Barbara and the Academy for Coaching Excellence as a mentor coach. She has certifications in mediation, behavioral interviewing, 360° feedback, Inscape DiSC and Team products, and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator.
